The Cayzer Chronicles!

So it looks like it’s about 8 years since my last blog post.

But the blog is now resurrected, having transferred over from the now defunct blueyonder site. Fortunately I managed to get hold of all the old Cayzer Chronicles and they are now on the site (check out the Cayzer Chronicles link at the top). So you can see what we’ve been up to while we’ve been away from the blog.

2016 Chronicles will hopefully be posted by the time you read this.

Hopefully, more soon.

Bristol Half Marathon (and Mum is 64!)

Yesterday I dragged the family to watch me running Bristol Half marathon.

img_2419_edited.jpg A good day, though they didn’t spot me en route (and Charlie was worried I had collapsed and was being carted off by a passing ambulance!

A good time too (for me), 1:40:16, a little off my ‘PB’ of 1:39:54, but not bad, considering most of my training was on holiday in the Loira – more wine and cheese than track and field….

We then went to Ashton Court estate to celebrate Mum’s birthday where Mum showed her sporting talent for ball sports – and looks like Charlie is inheriting the trait – shame it missed me!

Pro road pricing

Yup, that’s right, you heard! Sign a petition FOR road pricing:

“Many people will take a short sighted view and vote with their pockets against road pricing. However in order to tackle global warming and behave responsibly we need to reduce car use. Road charges will cut congestion and carbon emissions and could raise up to £16bn a year in payments. We ask the government to pledge to invest this money in public transport and cycle paths.”

Be Generous

another New Year resolution! Generous is a website where you can link to others making small, positive actions for the benefit of the world. You know the sort of thing – stop taking carrier bags from shop, compost your leftovers – small but useful actions. A good place to put your resolutions!

My actions can be seen here

New Year resolutions

It’s a bit late to be posting resolutions but here they are anyway, in no particular order

  1. Blog more often! Keep this blog up to date with cayzer-like snippets
  2.  Keep fit! Yes, I still enjoy running, the aim is to do a couple of half marathon equivalent events this year(that’ll add up to a full marathon, which I’m still not ready for!).
  3. Take up new sports. I’ve just started playing squash (very badly) and will renew last year’s hopelessly realised ambition to learn tennis.
  4. Piano! I would like, this year, finally to master (a simplified version of) Fats Wallers’ “A Handful of Keys”. As (another) stretch goal, I’m aiming for a (very small scale)  public performance later this year!
  5. Continue to improve French, with the aim of being able to have a simple French conversation on our camping trip later this year. This year may also be ‘the year of the subjunctive’
  6. Do good community like thing. I’m already involved with the St Francis ‘Youth Café” and am planning to encourage the school to implement a ‘travel plan’.
  7. Be green! Use the car less, avoid flights where possible, promote energy efficiency, encourage hp to implement ecological policies….

Hmmm. 7 resolutions. I think that’s enough!

Christmas time at the cayzers. Typical chaos. But at least I got another copy of the cayzer chronicles out – which will shortly be on the web site. Here is a drawing that alice did especially for Christmas

.. and here is them signing their names.

Merry Christmas!

alice and charles cayzer.
